The ALIGN joint venture, was awarded the C1 package of the UK High Speed 2 line (HS2). Lot C1 consists of 21.6km of high-speed rail infrastructure in a rural environment. This will include a 3.37km viaduct, 15.75km twin-bored tunnel and five vent shafts handling both intervention and tunnel ventilation facilities. Phase 1 of the UK’s largest ground investigation package was awarded to Fugro Geoservices Ltd, who appointed MacGeo Ltd to direct and coordinate the entire works utilising MacGeo’s most senior engineering staff.

Appointed site agent Bill Anderson from MacGeo Ltd was responsible for the management of the investigation and the required project delivery to the client’s specification. Large teams of Employees and Subcontractors were managed to ensure the successful completion of the project. Daily and weekly meetings were held with internal and external trades to ensure the swift completion of the program and to predict any issues that may cause potential delays.

Three of MacGeo’s senior engineering staff where appointed as Site Agent, Site Operations supervisor and Technical lead, using our skill set to manage and control the top end of the project. Our teams included Site Management and Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS & SSSTS) accredited staff.
